Speaking of “military laws” that will not be accepted, the anarchist collective “Ruvikonas” with an announcement affirms that it will participate in a march on Tuesday, November 17, on the anniversary of the Polytechnic, urging those who respond to comply with all sanitary measures.
Full announcement:
Call for the course of November 17
The reality of social struggle is full of difficult dilemmas. Precisely because the moments that are more necessary than ever are the moments in which the veil of normality is torn and crises bring to light the contradictions, as well as the contradictions, of the regime in which we live.
What the social base now has in front of it is a pandemic accompanied by rampant poverty and a state that was indifferent to facing its second wave, but that did not care at all to take advantage of the crisis to the detriment of the base. When in these circumstances they choose to equip the police at a frenetic pace in resources and personnel, when they pass a bankruptcy code that ends the transfer of wealth from the working class and the lower petty bourgeoisie to the top, when the MATs enter the Polytechnic without even occupy, something is wrong. The index needle is withdrawn by collective consensus to address the health hazard and is moving rapidly toward low-intensity military law.
Martial law is obviously not acceptable.
And it does not help at all that the main responsibility for the outbreak of the pandemic and the threat of weakness of the ESY. to answer, it is brought by the state. This mechanism that did not say no to the capitalists of tourism who wanted profits, did not say no to the capital of international tourism that did not want a test, did not say no to the church that acted as agent of the virus in ages dangerous. This mechanism, which was made minimal for the needs of the ICU, did not hire staff and “imposed” private clinics at the best prices on the market for the health capitalists. The media are more attuned than ever to the lines of the regime. At the same time, other elites spend millions on long walks and decorations, under which only the police will circulate. Militarized police with motorized units, new equipment, surveillance mechanisms, flying vehicles, new laws and thousands of recruits. Leaving aside the rational fear of health, no one can doubt that all this gives off a dictatorial smell. Along with the certainty of the inability of the State to fulfill its most basic duty, which is the cornerstone of its supposed need. Manage and organize human resources and technical means to face a collective risk.
Therefore, this state chose to ban this year’s course from the Polytechnic.
Unable to say no to far-right voices seeking revenge because the parades did not take place, seemingly creating “out of nowhere” a hotbed of provocations for everyone to fight over the always annoying symbolic and political burden of this anniversary. It seeks political provocation, not only from the political forces but from the entire base. It is a sign of discipline, a test.
The dilemma of evaluating each time what weighs more is constant, in such special circumstances. And it is always difficult, each choice that is made has a cost. There is a cost for calling the anniversary despite the ban, there is a cost for discipline. And immediate and long-term costs. At this juncture, we consider necessary the disorder in the state prohibition of the Polytechnic course this year. Because we must realize that despite the persistent effort to deceive ourselves, the prohibition of the Polytechnic course had little to do with health reasons. It was a political decision with political objectives on the part of the entire regime. And we saw it even clearer when the MAT entered the Polytechnic, when they were fighting solidarity in Exarchia and GADA.
Our response, the one that adapts to immediate needs, but also the one that responds better than anything to the spirit and essence of the 73 uprising, is to follow the course on 11/17.
Tuesday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. in Klafthmonos Square.
We call on the participating world to observe all health protection measures (masks, distances, etc.).
