Ten people infected with Covid-19 and hospitalized died in a fire that broke out in a hospital northeast Romania, in unclear circumstances.
The fire broke out early in the evening at Hospital intensive care unit from the city of Piatra Neamt and came under control an hour later.
According to the first information, 10 intubated patients lost their lives, while seven more were injured.
Among them is the doctor who was on duty in the room and tried to help the patients.. The doctor has second and third degree burns on 80% of his body.
The Romanian Minister of Health is going to visit the hospital.
Romania did not face serious problems in the first wave of the pandemic, but cases and hospitalizations have increased in recent weeks.
The present day 129 deaths from Covid-19 were reported, bringing the total to 8,813.
Romania, one of the poorest countries in the European Union, also faces a shortage of doctors, especially in the province’s hospitals.
