“Freeze” the PPC the burden on consumers derived from the supplier fee applied to the consolidation of the financing account of Renewable energy sources.
“PPC will not affect the cost. We treat it as a COVID measure and, recognizing the difficult situation, we choose to absorb the costs,” company sources told APE-MPE, when asked about the announced “package” of measures for RES. Yesterday.
The measures include the imposition of an extraordinary tax of 110 million euros on RES electricity producers and an equal charge for energy providers with the imposition of an extraordinary tariff (PPC and active competitors in the market). PPC clarifies, through RES, that this charge will not be passed on to consumers. PPC’s competitors, alternative electricity providers, are free to formulate their commercial policy, but it is obvious that the PPC policy is being taken into account.
The package of measures announced yesterday by RIS includes two parts:
- On the one hand, the cash measures for the consolidation of the account (ELAPE) through which “green” energy producers are paid. According to official forecasts, if no measures are taken, the bill would show a deficit of 217 million euros at the end of the year and a multiple in the coming years, which would cause delays or inability to pay RES producers. According to the competent Administrator (DAPEEP), the main reason for the deficit was the reduction in energy consumption due to the pandemic, which limited the income of the RES units of the electricity market.
- On the other hand, structural measures aimed at the participation of RES in the energy system under market conditions. As RIS points out, the main objective of the regulations is to increase the penetration of renewable energy sources in the country in a controlled and controlled manner, while at the same time creating the conditions for the widest possible use of the most successful tool and effective internationally, the EU target model.
PPC with recent statements from the president and managing director George Stassis was in favor of the integration of RES in the market, noting that now renewable sources are completely competitive.
