The experts had three scenarios on the table:
- Close primary schools and kindergartens in Thessaloniki and in northern parts of Greece.
- Close schools in all areas with epidemiological burden.
- Close all schools nationwide.
Finally, the third, more drastic solution prevailed.
It should be noted that on Friday afternoon EODY announced 3,038 new cases of coronavirus in our country in the last 24 hours. The new circular of the Ministry of the Interior for special purposes allows parents
At the same time, the Minister of the Interior, Takis Theodorikakos, issued a new circular with measures and regulations for the coronavirus, following the imminent “lock” in schools and kindergartens.
The circular, which comes in a “package” with the decision on primary schools, kindergartens and nurseries, includes all the new measures for telework, such as the report that every service must have to justify that it employs the absolutely necessary staff. and detailed instructions for parent facilities.

Regarding the parents of the students, the circular of the Ministry of Education establishes:
“Given the evolution of the pandemic and the consequence of this total suspension of school units in the context of attending and limiting the spread of COVID-19, while it lasts, it is recalled that the provisions of article 5 of Legislative Act 11.3 are in force. .2020. Content ratified by article 2 of Law 4682/2020, subsequently amended and in force, which provides, under certain conditions, the granting of leave for special purposes to parents or the facilitation of part-time work provided for in para. 4 of the same article. What is provided for special purpose licenses
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs essentially reinstates the following provisions for special-purpose parental leave:
1. Employees employed in public services, decentralized administrations, AD and BD grade local authorities and their legal entities, legal entities of public law and legal entities of private law within the General Administration with any employment relationship and who have children who attend kindergarten and nursery school stations and units, whose operation is temporarily suspended, based on ministerial decisions issued through authorization of the provisions of the Law of 25.2.2020 Legislative Content (AD 42) “Urgent measures to prevent and limit the spread of coronavirus “, and in particular the children who attend up to the grade of DG Gymnasium, may be absent from their service for the period of suspension of the operation of the educational units their children attend.
For every four (4) days of absence, according to the previous paragraph, the three (3) days are recorded by the competent service as justified absence due to temporary suspension of the operation of the station or school where the employee’s child attends and during pay one pay and one (1) day of absence is a regular leave. In case the employee uses for a shorter period of time, this is a normal leave as a whole.
2. To justify the absence, in accordance with paragraph 1, employees must immediately inform the corresponding Personnel Directorate for the temporary suspension of the operation of the station or school unit where their child attends and must present a responsible statement or certificate of where result. that your child attends the particular structure, unless this is already evident in the service file. In the event of not being able to immediately present the above supporting documents, employees inform the appropriate Personnel Department and submit, within a reasonable period of time, the required supporting documents. The foregoing is not mandatory in the event of universal suspension of the operation of stations and school units.
