State Department officials and diplomats, according to CNN, say they are shocked, confused and outraged by Mike Pompeo’s remarks, in which he refused to recognize Joe Biden as president-elect of the United States.

We remind you that the Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, said during a press conference that the transition to power will be smooth, towards a second term of the Trump administration.

“I am disgusted,” an American diplomat told CNN. “How dare you undermine our work like this?” Another diplomatic source estimates that these statements are incredibly terrifying. “How can you be serious?” He wonders. The reactions from officials and diplomats come almost simultaneously with Biden’s assessment that Trump’s refusal to admit defeat is “disgraceful.”

Pompeo “sinks his backwardness”

A senior State Department official said he had stopped following Pompeo’s comments after his unfortunate report on a change of government.

“For someone who has created a code of ethics and for a graduate of West Point (United States Military Academy), it really is very low,” said diplomatic work in his day.

CNN notes that diplomats and officials have not received any guidance on whether or not they can comment on the US elections.

Yet American diplomats seem outraged by Pompeo’s decision to tell his interlocutors that Trump will somehow have a chance for a second term in the White House.
