The spread of the coronavirus throughout the territory remains high, as we go through the fourth day of confinement in the country, according to the data emerging from the impact map of the last 14 days of EODY.

The organization’s announcement for the epidemiological picture of the country in the last 24 hours highlighted the intensity of the problem, since, in addition to the 2,384 cases, 263 were intubated and 41 died from the coronavirus.

However, EODY data in the last 15 days shows how fast the coronavirus is spreading in the country and especially in northern Greece.

The impact map of confirmed coronavirus cases on Tuesday, released by the Organization, shows that half of Greece, from Larissa and beyond (including, of course, Attica) is in the middle of an outbreak.

Specifically, the areas of the map with a bright color (mosaic) are, according to EODY, areas where positive cases of coronavirus reach or exceed 150 per 100,000 inhabitants.

To give a more representative picture of the change in the rate of spread of the coronavirus in the general population, the same map from October 28 showed several areas (although less than those recorded today) in bright blue, indicating the presence of the virus. with 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The situation in Thessaloniki is difficult

The statements of the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, that “the health system in Thessaloniki is under a lot of pressure” are indicative.

Mr. Kikilias revealed that, according to research by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the percentage of positivity in Thessaloniki is 32%.

According to analyzes of samples from last week, but also from previous ones, the concentration of the virus genome in the sewage from Thessaloniki continues to increase rapidly, in contrast to the decrease in cases announced in recent days.

At the same time, a look at the geographical distribution of cases in the last 24 hours can explain the way in which the impact map is colored in our country. Apart from Thessaloniki, where once again the majority of cases are recorded (652), further spread of the virus is observed in Drama (52), Evros (45), Kavala (44), Karditsa (49), Larissa (164 ) and Magnesia (53).
