Many Greeks were surprised by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict when Russia, although allied with a military alliance with Armenia remained silent as, the Azeri forces in cooperation with Turkey attacked the Armenians. Annoying surprise over Russia-Armenia armistice agreement.
The agreement states that the Republic of Artsakh is losing the security zone around its territories and that Russian forces will be deployed to enforce the ceasefire..
Azeri President Aliyev’s side claims that it has been agreed that Turkish forces will be included in the ceasefire forces. If this happens, we will have the complete return of Turkey to the Caucasus region and the Armenians will return to the nightmare of the beginning of the last century.

Your interview Alexander Dugin to Azeri journalist Fouad Mukhtarh at an unexpected moment, in April 2019, can help us better understand the attitude of Russia. However, it should be noted that Dugin, in his Eurasian planning, attaches particular importance to the role of the Azeris, both in their strategic position and because they are a strong link both to Turkey as a Turkic speaker and to Iran as a Shiite. That is why his visits to Baku are very frequent.
The Putin-Lavrov plan, presented by Dugin, to force the Armenians to liberate five of the seven occupied areas of the security zone, appears to be fully confirmed.

The Kremlin Special Adviser and Leader of the International Eurasian Movement, Alexander Dugin, often seen as a foreign policy advisor to Vladimir Putin, believes that “Lavrov’s plan for Karabakh is nothing new. The positions discussed today in the negotiations were fixed by both sides several years ago.”
Under the plan, which he said was backed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov., Armenia will have to liberate five of the seven occupied territories, and then a completely new relationship model can be established. The economic integration of Armenia is maintained, while the Azerbaijani population of Karabakh returns to their homeland.
“Now both countries are in a state of confrontation, there are no peace consultations in Karabakh and the war continues. On the one hand, Russia recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and, on the other, cooperates with Armenia. In the context of rapid development Regarding the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, the military confrontation does not benefit Russia. This situation is unacceptable for Azerbaijan. This confrontation only benefits Armenia in the short term, but there are no prospects there either. As no country recognizes the annexation of Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, nor the independence of the “Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh”, says Dugin.
Armenia has not found and will not find any such allied country, neither in the West nor in the East. Similar ethnic cleansings have been carried out in other parts of the world, new territories have been conquered, in which new states have been created. An example is the former Yugoslavia. At that time, some states defended the Croats who carried out ethnic cleansing against the Serbs. However, behind them was an enormous force. “Along with NATO, the pro-Western leadership of the collapsing Soviet Union defended the Croats and the rest of the world recognized the state created in the conflict zone.”.
According to the Eurasian expert and admirer, if Russia supported Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh, or if the West supported ethnic cleansing and the creation of a new state in the occupied territories, such as Kosovo, then the situation would be completely different. However, Dugin notes that Armenia has extended its occupation beyond the Nagorno-Karabakh border in order to gain an advantage in future negotiations to resolve the conflict:
“These areas claim to be liberated in exchange for the international community recognizing the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. For Armenia, the advantage was that Azerbaijan was once an active member of GUAM (Agreement between Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova). Armenia. expected Russia to downgrade its relations with Azerbaijan, as it did with Georgia and Ukraine, which would lead Moscow to change its position on Karabakh. But this plan did not work in Karabakh, as in the case of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and the position Azerbaijan’s international organization was strengthened by the successful policies of President Ilham Aliyev, who rules the country perfectly. He strengthened his position, began to build a successful social system, became a successful leader. During this period, the leaders of Armenia changed and each of them left power leaving behind a great political scandal.Although Armenia has been protesting against the Kremlin for years, it has in fact lived in detrime nto of Russia and has not hesitated to blackmail him. “It is totally up to us, one hundred percent.”
In his opinion, relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are at the moment more logical and consistent, because the positions of Putin and Aliyev on many issues coincide. And this is not because they are friends, but because of rational approaches, adds Dugin.
“THE Aliyev Y Putin they are politicians of action and not of rhetoric. Thus, the parties strategically converge on behalf of national interests, without putting pressure on each other. We recently held a conference on the fact that Azerbaijan is Russia’s main strategic ally in the South Caucasus. Also, the conference was held in Karabakh. The choice of meeting space, of course, was very revealing. In this way, the Russia has openly expressed its desire to get closer to Azerbaijan. “Dugin points out.
According to Dugin, despite Yerevan’s desire to reach Brussels, the Westit does not support Armenia because it remains a military ally of Russia.
“It just came to our knowledge thenDespite the military alliance, we neither endorse nor support Armenia to the point of recognizing the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. Our support for Armenia is gradually decreasing. Russia has recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan since the Yeltsin era and still supports it. If it was ever only a nominal recognition, today it is not only de jure, but also de facto. At the same time, Russia considers itself the guarantor of the security of the Armenian community in Nagorno-Karabakh. “Russia is responsible for the free and safe life of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.”
“We know that half of the Karabakh population are Azeris, who have fled their homes as a result of ethnic cleansing, and these people must return to their homeland. But we do not want this to happen by military means, as it could affect to the Armenians, of whom we are guarantors. “Therefore, we are in favor of a peaceful resolution of the conflict and we consider that it is easier to choose to return to five areas,” said Dugin.
We do not consider such a concession from Armenia. Together with the incorporation of Azerbaijan and Turkey into the process, Russia will provide assistance for the economic development of Armenia. The blockade will be lifted, the border with Turkey will be opened, all the countries of the region will support the agreement. Armenia will actively participate in regional processes. “Armenia will gain significant benefits in exchange for the return of the five regions to Azerbaijan.”
Speaking of whether there are points in Lavrov’s plan to Susa and Lassin, which were occupied by Armenia in May 1992, Dugin notes:
“We openly say that these areas belong to Azerbaijan. But as it is the corridor between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, it is vital for the latter. After the return of the five regions, negotiations on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh can begin. The population living there must obtain passports and be able to move freely. Russia also has plans on this issue. Russia, along with Azerbaijan, Turkey and other CIS countries, wants to resume life in Karabakh. This problem cannot be solved through donations from the Diaspora. There you need to do a lot of creative work. This is a very delicate process. In the end, the Azeris suffered great damage and, upon their return, may develop serious mental illness. In this case, you have to move slowly, studying all the details. We have to do it for everyone to win. “Lavrov’s plan will close the issue once and for all: Karabakh will in no way become an independent state or part of Armenia.”
The Kremlin ideologue believes that today the balance of power around Karabakh has changed and the conditions have been created to resolve the conflict. And Lavrov’s plan is designed specifically for this period:
“As far as I know, many people in Azerbaijan consider this plan harmful. Azeris naively say “Lavrov is Armenian”, trying to undermine the implementation of the plan. But Sergei Lavrov is a politician, look what is happening, based on reality. Also, this is not Lavrov’s personal plan. It is a plan of our country, Russia.
Such a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is consistent, taking into account the national interests of Russia. We will continue the policy of rapprochement with Azerbaijan and the alliance with Armenia. The Armenians try in vain to present their friendly relations with Russia as competition with Azerbaijan. There has never been such a thing, and now you can’t talk about it. Similarly, it is incorrect to view the Baku-Moscow rapprochement in an anti-Armenian context. It is beneficial for Russia to get closer“Azerbaijan without spoiling its relations with Armenia”.
