Koronaios: How many ICU beds are left empty across the country

The prevailing situation with ICU beds throughout the country was announced by the Ministry of Health.

At a time when the second wave of the coronavirus is spreading throughout the country and with the health system beginning to accept the first pressures, the Ministry of Education has published data on ICU beds operating throughout the country.

According to informal information, a total of 1,063 ICU beds are currently operating throughout the country.

Of these, 734 are employed and 329 are vacant (31%).

There are currently 643 non-COVID ICUs, 475 are occupied and 168 vacant (26%).

Currently there are 420 UCI-COVID. Of these, 259 are occupied and 161 are vacant (38%).

The picture in Athens – Thessaloniki

The ICU-COVID serving the needs of Thessaloniki (including Halkidiki and Kavala hospitals) are currently 124.

Of these, 93 are occupied and 31 are vacant (25%).

In Attica Hospitals, the ICU-COVID is currently 168 while of these, 112 are occupied and 56 are vacant (33%).

The total number of beds available nationwide for confirmed COVID-19 cases is 4,452.
