The great architecture master Dimitris Fatouros passed away at the age of 92. Dimitris Fatouros was emeritus professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, architect, visual artist and writer. He was born in Athens in 1928 and passed away on Saturday, after a brief hospitalization at the Inter-Balkan Medical Center in Thessaloniki.
Dimitris Fatouros He was a professor at the School of Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for nearly four decades from 1959 to 1996 and was a key founding member of the School and a key shaper of its physiognomy. He was Dean of the AUTh Polytechnic School in the period 1968-69 and 1977-78. He served as Rector of AUTh. from 1983 to 1988. He is emeritus and obtained an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Patras in 2014.
THE Dimitris Fatouros He served as rector of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) from 1983 to 1988, and as non-parliamentary minister of National Education and Religions in the last government of Andreas Papandreou from October 1993 to July 1994. In 1990 he was a candidate for the Mayor of Thessaloniki with the support of PASOK and the Left, but lost by a narrow margin to Dino Kosmopoulos.
His writing Dimitris Fatourou It includes 17 books: essays on architecture, but sometimes on art and poetry, monographs and textbooks on systematic theory of architecture, from 1952 to 2009. Four collections of his poetry have also been published. His art work includes solo and group painting exhibitions, wall reliefs and decorations, which have recently attracted critical attention with publications and a retrospective exhibition (MIET 2018).
