Ken Hensley, musician and composer known for his collaboration with rock The 70s band Uriah Heep died at the age of 75.
Ken Hensley, the band’s most successful songwriter, guitarist and cymbalist, had recently completed his new album, My Book of Answers, which would be released in February 2021.
His spokesman said he had died “quietly after a very short illness.”
Uriah Heep’s guitarist Mick Box said he was “deeply shocked; Ken wrote some amazing songs during his tenure with the band, and they will remain a musical legacy that will be in people’s hearts forever.”
Hensley helped spread the synth as part of an emerging harder rock sound and wrote and sang one of the band’s key pieces, the powerful folk-rock song Lady in Black. He also wrote Easy Livin ‘, which became a worldwide hit in 1972.
Trevor, Ken Hensley’s brother, wrote on Facebook: “Monica’s beautiful wife stood by his side and comforted Ken in his last minutes with us. We are all devastated by this tragic and incredibly unexpected loss.”
