From the early morning of Saturday, November 7 the country is entering a new one emergency shutdown. On Thursday noon, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the decision to take further steps to “curb” the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

As part of the new restrictive measures that the government has decided to take, the emergency shutdown which will start at 06:00 on Saturday.

The specialization of the new measures, held on Thursday afternoon by the Vice Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardals. As he said, the process together with that of last spring with two important differences. the universal mask use but also the mode from schools, except secondary schools and lyceums.

As explained, curfew applies to everyone except commuting to work, school, and emergencies. Transportation to and from work requires the necessary documents leaving Ergani through employers, while there are separate documents for the movement of students to and from school.

Movements are only allowed by sending an SMS to 13033 or by completing the exceptional form that is available at forma.gov.gr or in a manuscript stating the reasons for the exemption.

The movements allowed and the necessary documents

In order for a citizen to be able to move in from 06:00 on Saturday morning, they must have an employee certificate, a handwritten certificate or a student transfer certificate.

Citizen travel to attend to their needs that cannot be otherwise met can only be allowed for the following reasons:

  • Getting to and from work during work hours.
  • Go to a pharmacy or visit a doctor, if recommended after contact.
  • Go to an operational store of basic necessities (supermarket, mini market), where it is not possible to send them.
  • Go to the bank, to the extent that electronic transaction is not possible.
  • Move around to help people in need or to accompany minor students to / from school.
  • Attend a funeral under the conditions provided by law or go to divorced parents or those who are in a dimension that is necessary to ensure communication between parents and children, in accordance with current provisions.
  • Physical exercise in the open air or movement with a pet, individually or as a couple, observing in the latter case the necessary distance of 1.5 meters.

For travel to and from work during business hours, the movement certificate is permanent (write a) and is provided, under the personal responsibility of the signer, by the employer or, in the case of a legal person, by their legal representative or, in the case of self-employed or autonomous, by the same.

For all other trips, the certificate of circulation refers to each individual movement and only that (type B), is signed by the interested party with their personal responsibility and contains the name, date of birth, address and time of movement of the citizen, as well as the specific reason for the movement

Strict controls and fines

As for violators of the new measures, the fines are expected to be “stingy.” As explained by the deputy minister, Nikos Hardalias, the controls will be more intense and strict, especially at night. He explained that there will be strict compliance with the measures and control over whether this actually happens, which means that there will be no flexibility in terms of fines.

With the data that we know of the areas that were already at a “gray” level on the epidemiological map (Thessaloniki and Serres), those who violate the travel ban are punished with a fine of 150 euros.. Those who do not wear a mask, as it has become mandatory for all venues, are also fined 150 euros, while for rallies the fines are very high.

To the natural persons who look meetings or events or participate in them a fine of 150 euros is imposed. For event organizers, the first offense is provided. a fine of 3,000 euros, in case of a second offense fine of 5,000 euros and suspension of operation for 15 days.
