Judges and prosecutors will normally go to the seats of the criminal and civil courts, as they suspended the three-hour recess from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

The reason for the change of course is the decision of the Government of a total blockade that will include the operation of the courts, with exceptions that will specialize in the next few hours with new JMC.

Judges and prosecutors do not stop speaking out against the bar associations for their position in the previous days against the closure of the courts, repeating the “union logic”.

The announcement of the Association of Judges and Prosecutors is as follows:

SUSPENSION OF MOBILIZATION

Today’s announcement by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management of a partial suspension of the courts – which are expected to specialize in the next few hours – is a bitter confirmation of our assessments of the need immediate action to protect the population from a pandemic. The dangerous union logic advocated by the leadership of the Athens Bar Association was soon confronted with reality. But no rivalry is intended with the vast majority of lawyers, whose institutional role we respect, fully understanding the extremely unfavorable conditions in which they work. Preserving public health is now a priority for all and decisions must be taken into account by experts. The Union of Judges and Prosecutors with a sense of responsibility suspends the postponements of hearings announced for tomorrow ”.

The Union of Administrative Judges also suspended the half-hour break that was scheduled for tomorrow.

Thus, the trials scheduled in the Administrative Courts of First Instance and in the Court of Appeals will normally begin at 9:00 in the morning.

Ad:

“The Union of Administrative Judges, as it is known, had decided, as a form of protest against the government’s decision to proceed with the operation of the courts without restrictions, the symbolic suspension of all sessions of the country’s administrative courts, on Friday 11/6/2020 for half an hour.
The evolution, with the entry into force on Saturday, November 7, of the extraordinary restrictive measures (LOCKDOWN), justified our Union. “After that, as the courts will now function with restrictions, tomorrow we are suspending our symbolic mobilization and we hope that the government, during the specialization of the measures on the functioning of the administrative courts, will listen to our proposals.”
