“We are currently going through difficult times for our democracy,” Kurtz said last night, thanking the police and first aid officers who “risk their lives for our safety, especially today.”

The federal government has decided that the armed forces will take over the surveillance of buildings in Vienna, a responsibility normally held by the security forces, so that the police can focus on dealing with terrorists.
