I would very much like to know why the Holy Temples should remain open (even with protocols). With what reasoning? With what the – otherwise respected – Metropolitan of Ierissos Theoklitos used to say, who a while ago shouted: “I share the world, do you see that I have coronavirus?” and did you test positive for Covid 19 on Friday?
And all this is happening at a time when our country lives and will experience unprecedented situations due to its exponential growth. coronavirus pandemic. It is true that in all the countries of the world there have been upheavals in the lives of citizens that nobody expected. It is true that we, as a society, are tired both psychologically and biologically. But in all this battle (because it is a war of survival) some of us are concerned about whether or not the coronavirus is transmitted to the divine community.
This is where the bell of logic must ring and the primal instinct for survival and self-preservation must prevail. Visits by elderly people with chronic diseases belonging to the so-called vulnerable groups of the population in places like churches do not help reduce the disease.
In the first wave of coronavirus, Newsbomb.gr against everyone and against everything took a clear position and asked the Prime Minister to dare to fully implement the confinement in the Churches and it turned out that we were absolutely right. The Prime Minister proceeded with a public statement on the implementation of the restrictions in the Holy Temples. Last March, the intervention of Kyriakos Mitsotakis was the catalyst, who in his sermon stated: “I close with a reference to an issue that greatly concerns the public debate. Personally, in the last few days I have felt a great need to invoke my faith to gain strength and face the circumstances. I’m sure many of you have felt the same way. However, as Prime Minister, I have to listen to expert scientists. “What applies to public meetings also applies to our churches.”
And we said that We have strong ties to Orthodoxy and Hellenism and we fully respect the rights of deeply religious Greeks.
We say the same now. And we say it for the sake of knowledge like today, It is not our “beliefs” that are being tested, but our belief in human health. The love of “neighbor” to which orthodoxy itself refers. For the umpteenth time we repeat that God is everywhere, he is within us, you do not need to run to churches and temples to find him. What are some people afraid of? Is the religious sentiment of the flock moved? Do they convert? Did they lose votes from the nicknamed crowd?
At a time when Greece and the world are being tested by a deadly pandemic, it is insane to argue whether the temples of Orthodoxy will remain open or closed.
