Father Nikolaos Kakavelakis, 52, a father of three, is the priest who was injured in the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church in Lyon, France. The priest, who was closing his church at the time, was shot point-blank from a shotgun with a barrel cut. He was shot twice and is in critical condition.

It has not yet been clarified if it is a terrorist attack with religious characteristics, although the attacks of the previous days in France show that it is happening.

The information states that the priest is a theologian, historian and at the same time taught courses in Byzantine History at the city’s University. He lived for years in the French city with his family.

The priest was shot by the attacker and, according to information from the French media, he has injuries to the chest and abdomen.

According to Le Figaro, citing sources familiar with the matter, it is still being investigated whether it was a terrorist attack since the priest had been attacked in the past by a citizen.
Some information says that the author of that attack was a Greek who faced psychological problems.
