Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the new government measures, in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
As of Tuesday, November 3 in the morning and for a month, a program will come into force according to which the territory is now divided into two zones instead of four: Surveillance and increased risk.
Ultimately, the Prime Minister announced the following: Use of mask everywhere, indoors and outdoors, restriction of traffic from 12 pm to 5 am, application of teleworking at 50% in the public and private sector, complete distance education in universities , not meetings.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the need for “We are moving with caution, with a dynamic plan in November” to avoid a universal blockade, which would damage the economy and society.
Which areas are “orange” and which are “red”
At the “orange” level it is Attica, Boeotia, Trikala, Imathia, Pieria, Pella, Kilkis, Halkidiki, Drama, Kavala, Xanthi, Evros and Naxos.
“Red” are the areas: Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Kastoria, Kozani, Larissa, Rodopi and Serres.
What measures will be applied in the Surveillance Zone
The first will include the areas that some cases have presented, the areas that until now were in “green” and “yellow.”
The following measures will be applied:
- Wear a mask everywhere, indoors and outdoors
- Traffic restriction from 12:00 in the afternoon to 5:00 in the morning.
- 50% telework application in the public and private sector
- And full distance education in universities
- Meetings are prohibited
What measures will be applied in the high-risk area
The Increased Risk zone includes areas that to this day are not only in “red”, but also in “orange”.
That is, all of northern Greece but also Attica.
Especially there in the above configuration the following is added:
- The operation of all dining rooms is suspended, except for the delivery of food at home and the store receipt.
- The same will apply to entertainment, culture and sports: bars, cafes, cinemas, museums and theaters, as well as indoor gyms.
- Travel outside the prefecture is not prohibited.
What’s left open
At the same time, The operation of industry, retail and schools is maintained throughout the territory.. And services such as hotels and hairdressers remain open.
The Prime Minister also clarified: “Compared to the first phase, now the traffic is free, without the need to send messages. Retail stores remain open, production continues without interruption, and schools are operating normally. To put it another way, we are not talking about a total “freeze” of everyday life. Why am I going to repeat it: A universal closure is the last step, which would harm the economy and society, while the next day it is extracted from the country in many areas ”.
