Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden expressed his condolences to Greece and Turkey for the earthquake in the East Aegean that killed at least 19 people in both countries and injured hundreds more.
“Jill and I are sending our prayers to the people of Greece and Turkey after today’s earthquake,” Biden wrote on Twitter, referring to his wife. “We are grateful to the brave rescuers who are saving others and to the governments of Greece and Turkey who are putting aside their differences to support each other,” Biden said.
No mention of Trump
His opponent in next Tuesday’s election, US President Donald Trump, has yet to make public reference to the deadly earthquake.
Earlier, the State Department and US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien expressed their condolences and said the US was ready to help Greece and Turkey.
