Turkey: 12 dead and 419 injured in earthquake (video)

At least 12 people have been killed and 419 injured in Turkey, according to a new report from the strong earthquake openly noticed Samos and caused the collapse of buildings in Izmir province, according to Turkey’s Disaster Management Authority.

AFAD also reported that at least 84 aftershocks, 16 of them more than 4 on the Richter scale, were recorded after the earthquake.

According to the Turkish authorities and according to Reuters reports, one of the victims drowned.

Search and rescue operations continue on some 17 buildings that collapsed or were badly damaged in Izmir.

More than 50 fire trucks and 200 rescuers have been deployed to the scene, according to AFAD.

The Turkish Red Crescent with 48 members and 16 vehicles is also participating in the operations.

So far, at least 70 people have been rescued from the rubble of the buildings, according to Izmir Governor Yavuz Selim Kosger.

According to the videos that saw the light, a small tsunami hit the coast of Turkey, causing roads to become rivers.

Through Twitter, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his solidarity with the citizens affected by the earthquake.
