“What we saw was a tsunami similar to the one that hit Kos and what we are thinking is whether after earthquake created what we call an underwater landslide. “When asked what could happen if something like this happened, Synolakis said there is a possibility of a second tsunami.” The probability is small, but if we have a landslide under the water, the second tsunami will be more intense than the first and what I am telling you is certain. ”
He considers that safe conclusions can only be drawn after the examination of the tides, if they are established in Samos or on another island, something that will happen in the next few hours.
