We may have more than 2,000 cases this weekend, said, among others, professor of microbiology Alkiviadis Vatopoulos speaking on SKAI television.

As he explained, in a week – 10 days, the cases went from 400 to 800 and now to more than 1000, which shows an almost doubling when doing the same tests, while pointing out that the youngest are still sick and that things they will get much worse. when the elderly start to get sick.

At the same time, Mr. Vatopoulos underlined that it has been discussed in the Infectious Diseases Committee to close the restaurant and to prohibit movements from prefecture to prefecture (except for work). As you mentioned, the goal is to reduce unnecessary activities and among them are entertainment and catering, although it is absolutely clear that employees are significantly affected and that they must be supported.

Regarding the possibility of a confinement, he said that it is a political decision but in his opinion, if the measures are observed, it can be avoided.

However, as he has underlined, if the measures announced today by the Prime Minister do not work and if the pandemic continues to spread uncontrollably, we will go to Lockdown.

“As a doctor, I would say shut everything down, but I understand that it’s difficult to make a decision on Lockdown,” he said.

At the same time, he pointed out that the rate of positive cases has reached 4-5% while he pointed out that the virus antibodies remain for 4-5 months, as it now turns out, without this meaning that there is no immunity (because there are cells of memory). But because the disease has been around for a few months, there is no data yet on exactly how long this immunity lasts, as he pointed out.

The professor added, among other things, that there is a possibility that someone will reattach it, but those who have reattached it so far seem to take it very lightly.
