France: the perpetrator of the attack arrived by train in Nice

The young man who allegedly killed three people inside a church in Nice, arrived in that city by train, in possession of an identity document issued by the Italian Red Cross, the head of the French antiterrorist prosecutor announced tonight.

Prosecutor Jean-François Ricard said the suspect was born in Tunisia in 1999 and arrived in Bari, Italy, on October 9.

According to the images from the surveillance cameras at the train station, the attacker changed his clothes when he got there and then walked to the Notre Dame Basilica, which is about 400 meters away, where he launched the attack.

Two of his victims, a 55-year-old church worker and a 60-year-old woman, were found dead inside the church. He had cut both their throats. The third victim, a woman, died shortly thereafter in a nearby bar where she sought refuge. The woman suffered multiple stab wounds.

Four policemen rushed to the scene and shot the 21-year-old as he moved threateningly at them shouting “Allah Akbar,” the prosecutor added. The perpetrator was seriously injured by the police fire and was taken to hospital.
