Panagiotis Arkoumaneas expressed his assessment that soon, within a week, the cases of the coronavirus in Greece will overcome the critical “barrier” of thousands.

“Recently there is a strong upward trend, last week we had reached more than 900, within the week it is more likely to reach four digits, more than 1,000 cases,” said the president of EODY, Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, in statements to Real FM. 97.8.

When asked if this would happen today, he replied that “it is very possible that it will happen today.”

According to the president of EODY, the next few weeks are expected to be very difficult and in this context the identification and isolation tests of patients are carried out, in order to stop the dispersion.

Experts fear due to pressure on the SEN due to the record number of cases

Of course, the assessment of the president of EODY for a new case registry is not the only one, since several specialists in infectious diseases have commented that we will soon exceed 1,000 cases.

In particular, infectious diseases professor Athena Linou stated that “within a month I fear that daily cases will double or possibly triple if we do not take other measures. Teleworking could be increased to 90%, incentivizing more tests, prescribing tests. “I wish it could be refuted,” he said, making a prediction of what will come next.

“Once cases start and double in less than ten days, they can triple. I emphasize this to realize how great the risk is,” concluded Ms. Linou.

For his part, the professor and member of the infectious diseases committee, Charalambos Gogos, stressed that it is not excluded that we will see more than 1,000 cases this week, while expressing concern about the pressure on the health system, stating that the number of hospitalized patients is close to 1,000. Ioannina there is pressure in the covid clinics (not in the units).

As he explained, as long as they need to open coronavirus clinics, the system is taking the rest.

“There really is a problem that needs to be addressed,” he told SKAI.

Among other things, he affirmed that it is a fact that there is a great dispersion, while he stressed that it is now greater than in March, although now there is better preparation.

Regarding the measures, he stressed that if the measures do not go well, the closure is not unlikely and that more than 2,000 cases mean new measures. However, he said the current measures are satisfactory. “The general observance of the mask will change the number of cases”

In addition, the professor pointed out that there is a scenario that a great wave of coronavirus is coming now, while pointing out that teleworking must be increased so that many people do not move, that is, 50% to become 70 or even 80%.

On the table and other measures if cases increase dramatically

So if in the next period, until November 9, the figures continue to indicate that the epidemic wave is far from its eruption point, the imposition of additional restrictions is inevitable.

According to information, the next measures that the government is considering are:

– Prohibition of traffic outside the prefecture. It is not yet clear how it will be implemented, although it already applies to prefectures that are at alarm level 4. It is not allowed to move from one prefecture to another in these areas. Specifically, it is not allowed to leave Kozani and Kastoria prefectures, which are in red.

Padlock in focus. On the table is the Paris type measure. Restaurants must be closed after 9 pm.

-Travel restriction for citizens over 65 years old. A measure that had been heard, that had been refuted, but that once again takes center stage.

What areas are flirting with the local lockdown?

As for the areas that are in red, Attica and Thessaloniki rank first as they account for about half of the infections reported daily by EODY.

Ioannina, Serres, Larissa, Kozani, Kastoria have registered a high number of cases in the last week.

However, in recent days, Rodopi, Messinia and Evros have been showing cases.

Specifically, in the last week, from last Tuesday the 20th of the month until yesterday, Attica has declared 1,876 coronavirus infections.

In turn, Thessaloniki registers 1,173 new cases.

It is noted that yesterday Thessaloniki “fell” a lot with 84 additional incidents, after days with three-digit numbers of daily cases.

Kozani (133 cases in a week) and Kastoria (85 cases in a week) have passed lower levels, compared to a week before and after the imposition of a local blockade.
