French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian issued a new statement condemning the escalation of attacks by Turkey and President Tayyip Erdogan against France and Emanuel Macron.
Le Diran reiterates the lack of condemnation of the Islamist terrorist attack against French professor Samuel Patti or the expression of solidarity in France. He stressed that for a few days a “hate propaganda and slander” from Ankara and direct insults to President Macron have been added to this position.
The announcement of the French Foreign Minister:
“In the absence of any trace of official condemnation or solidarity from the Turkish authorities after the terrorist attack in Conflan Saint-Honorin, a campaign of hate and slander against France has been added in recent days, showing the desire to incite hatred against us, expressed by the highest level of the Turkish state. This behavior is unacceptable, especially by an allied country. Therefore, the French Ambassador to Turkey was called and returns today, Sunday, October 25, 2020, to Paris, for consultations.”.
Boycott of French products in Muslim countries
There are more and more voices in Arab countries calling for a boycott of French products in response to Emanuel Macron’s statements on Islam and his decision to display sketches of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in government buildings.
These statements by the French president were made on the occasion of the beheading of Professor Samuel Pati outside the school where he worked in a suburb of Paris.
