The black clouds on your horizon thicken pandemic of coronavirus.
Saturday, the ΕΟΔΥ announced a new negative record, with 935 cases. Five people died from the disease. COVID-19, while the intubated is 91. The total number of deaths reached 564 and the number of cases 29,992. Note that 43.4% of the cases are between 19 and 34 years old.
Tests, cases, deaths
The number of 935 cases, just one breath in every 1,000, is sounding the alarm. However the number of cases must be correlated with the number of tests performed. Multiple tests have been conducted since March. However, on October 14, with a number of tests similar to today, the cases were 436. That is, today, ten days later, we have more than double the number of cases.
A second comparison is the number of deaths from coronavirus. From March to September, the death toll from the pandemic was 282. Today it reached 564. That is, in less than two months we had the same death toll as the previous 7.
On September 24 we had 68 intubated, on October 14 86 and today 91. Intubated numbers are increasing, but not at the rate of cases. However, intubations captured the picture of the pandemic two weeks ago and deaths three weeks ago.
In the limit
We are currently in breaking point. The situation is not out of control yet and the NSS is lingering for the moment. However, let us not forget that if the spread of the pandemic continues at the current rate, we will soon face situations similar to those in Bergamo.
The government is trying to stop the pandemic with the local blockade, its generalization use of mask outdoors and traffic ban after 00:30.
Its effectiveness will be seen in the coming weeks.
The emergency shutdown
In fact, the discussion about the general emergency shutdown is rekindled. Sunday’s Step writes that if the cases exceed 2,000, we will go into a general lockdown, while the focus will close first.
However, ο Stelios Petsas speaking to Mega, he denied the possible block.
Specifically, he said:
“It’s not on the table universal lock. The Prime Minister the day before yesterday in his message to citizens said that this is not his choice. We take actions that have the slightest impact on daily life and economic activity in order to preserve household and business income as much as possible. It is a daily balancing act not only in Greece but also in Europe and around the world. “
