The poultry farm of a renowned company will be closed until October 28.
The Ioannina-based Poultry Cooperative with an official and extensive announcement makes it known that the employees who tested positive were asymptomatic and were immediately removed along with their close contacts.
It also informs that the poultry slaughterhouse suspends its operation from Sunday to Wednesday, October 28, in order to carry out the general disinfection of the premises while at the same time the EODY crews will submit all the personnel to preventive tests.
The same announcement indicates that the Poultry Cooperative, covering the cost itself, has so far carried out more than 500 molecular tests and 300 rapid tests on employees in all facilities, while it has taken strict protection measures in compliance with all the sanitary protocols according to their instructions. EODY, highlights the website epiruspost.gr.
“Ioannina prefecture in the last month shows many cases every day and has been classified as high-risk prefectures.
The cases of PINDOS employees with our initiative were recorded as asymptomatic and were immediately withdrawn along with their close contacts to protect their own health and that of those around them.
In order not to spread the transmission of COVID-19 to other employees, we decided as a precaution not to operate the poultry slaughterhouse on Sunday 10/25 until Wednesday 10/28, in order to be able to carry out the general disinfection of all areas and at the same time carry out preventive tests in collaboration with EODY on all staff, so that we can put the poultry slaughterhouse into operation without hesitation.
EFET has classified poultry slaughterhouses as high-risk facilities for the spread of COVID-19 due to the low temperatures of 5-7 ° C prevailing in the production areas, the high humidity level and the number of employees that must be on the production line.
Finally, PINDOS, having as a basic condition the guarantee of the safety of its products, has ensured the uninterrupted supply of the supply chain, since it has taken care of the necessary actions so that production is not affected in the least.
“Ensuring public health remains an issue of utmost importance to all members of the PINDOS family, especially at a time when our society is being tested,” the statement said.
