Today’s meeting of the Golden Dawn trial soon unfolded, with the president of the court, Maria Lepenioti, raising issues of great importance to the credibility and impartiality of the prosecutor.

What are the Lagos parliaments?
Giannis Lagos, after his release from 18 months in prison in March 2015, was again incarcerated with a parliamentary order for violating a restrictive condition, in July 2015, and his detention was lifted two months later with the imposition of conditions.

Giannis Lagos had been in prison until October 1, 2015. The last reference invoked by his defense, issued in 2019 (number 1031/2019) at the request of Giannis Lagos, on June 27, 2019, after he was elected MEP, also refers to the aforementioned parliament. The Council that adopted the 2019 parliament did not accept the request of the then newly elected MEP to lift his mandates and only ordered the modification of the condition of the ban on leaving the country as follows:

The committee emphasizes that the term is modified only for reasons of necessity for the exercise of the functions of Mr. Lagos in the European Parliament and therefore the validity of the other restrictive conditions is ordered since “there was no modification of the conditions that imposed his imposition”.
