Construction works are underway on the new fence, with a total length of 27 km, in Feres, Evros.
The Ministry of Citizen Protection delivered material from the project presentation to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The characteristics of the new fence.

At the same time, the existing fence will be reinforced with the incorporation in Greece of a strong continuous metal railing, also made of steel, with a total height of 4.3 meters.
The project entails multiple benefits since, in addition to its basic defensive-deterrent nature, it will also function as a modern flood control project based on the special geomorphology of Evros and on the other hand respect for local agricultural production. 
In combination, eight new elevated anti-ballistic observatories will be built along the artificial barriers, for use by the Greek army, and improvement works will be carried out on 57 existing infrastructures (outposts / observatories), including construction and repairs and electromechanical improvements.
