The journalist lost the battle with his life George Delastik on the morning of October 15, 2020.
George Delastik was born in Athens on July 6, 1952. He studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Patras.
He started working on journalism in 1979. He worked in the newspapers Rizospastis, Proti, To Paron, Kathimerini, Eleftheria Larissa and Ethnos (from which he retired in 2015) and in Epikaira magazine. In 1989 he founded the monthly magazine Prin in which he served director and then in the newspaper Before. He also worked as analyst in the radio and television media: Channel 10, ANT1 and MEGA.
He did journalistic missions in dozens of countries around the world. Wrote five books (The End of the Balkans, Revelation Now – The Road to the Monarchy, New Yalta, Conspiracy in the Mediterranean, Afghanistan) and participated in many more.
Of a student United in the communist movement and became a member of the KNE and the KKE. In 1989 he resigned in disagreement with the Tzannetaki government and took an active part in the formation of the NAP and the frontal formations that were created later. Was parliamentary candidate in many clashes with the ballots of the Popular Opposition, MERA and ANTARSYA. In the last years of his active political action, he participated and contributed his ideas and knowledge to the efforts and searches for a modern communist plan.
George Delastik throughout his life stood firm in his ideology and worked with dignity. Through his articles he fought against poverty and injustice, honored popular struggles and the left.
