The French government has declared a state of emergency in the country due to the worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The state of emergency will take effect at midnight on October 17 across France, allowing authorities to impose restrictions.

Macron’s announcements were dramatic, saying that during curfew, no visits to friends or restaurants would be allowed. However, there will be no restrictions on public transport, nor a ban on traveling between different regions of France.
Those who violate the restrictive measures will pay a fine.
The French president pointed out that this second wave of the pandemic is different from the first, because the virus has spread throughout the country. He described the situation as “worrying” but said “we have not lost control.”
France announced today 22,591 new confirmed cases of Covid-19. This is the third time in six days that the number of cases exceeds 20,000 in a 24-hour period.
There were also 104 deaths, bringing the total to 33,037. In total, cases reach 779,063 since the start of the pandemic.
The latest figures show an increase in the number of people intubated to 1,633 (for a current national capacity of around 5,000 ICU beds) and 84 deaths in 24 hours, with a total of almost 33,000 deaths in seven months.
