The sentences in the Golden Dawn trial were announced by the president of the court, Maria Lepenioti.
It imposed the maximum penalties on Giorgos Roupakias, while it decided to impose less than maximum penalties on all the other defendants in the criminal group. The defendant who received the highest penalty for joining and participating in a criminal group is Nikolaos Apostolou, charged only for this fact. Apostolou was, according to the file, the “recruit” of George Roupakias, sentenced to seven years in prison.
The court “distributed” a total of sentences exceeding 500 years.
