The sentences in the Golden Dawn trial were announced by the president of the court, Maria Lepenioti.
In particular, it announced life imprisonment for Giorgos Roupakias for the murder of Pavlos Fyssas and an additional 10-year sentence for joining the ATHEX criminal organization.
The accomplices were sentenced to six to seven years in prison and additional sentences of five years for participating in the criminal organization.
The president of the court imposed on the director of ATHEX, that is, Nikos Michaloliakos and most of the former deputies who have been convicted of running a criminal organization, a sentence of 13 years in prison. Artemis Mattheopoulos was sentenced to ten years. Those who were mere members and had no mitigation were sentenced to between five and seven years. Following the court’s decision on the sentences, two procedural acts will follow:
– The question of the merger of penalties, given that among the 57 there are defendants who have been found guilty of various crimes
– the question of the suspensive power of the appeal, who will decide and who will finally be taken to prison. Arrest warrants will be issued for them.
In both cases, the prosecutor’s proposal will be first, followed by the position of the defense of the members of Golden Dawn, and the court will have the last word of the decision.
