Severe weather is forecast to prevail from Monday afternoon (10/12) to Tuesday afternoon (10/13) in the western country, according to an emergency worsening weather bulletin issued by EMY.

The main characteristics will be the heavy rains and storms that will be accompanied by hail and stormy winds from the south from 7 to 8 Beaufort, which on Tuesday will reach the North Aegean until 9 Beaufort.

Where will bad weather “hit”?

  • From Monday afternoon hours (10/12) to Tuesday morning hours (10/13), the Ionian Sea, Epirus, Western Macedonia, Western Sterea and Western Peloponnese.
  • From the afternoon hours of Monday, the rest of the Peloponnese and Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly and the Sporades, weakening from the hours before noon on Tuesday and from the west.
  • Monday night through Tuesday morning, temporarily east of Sterea and Evia.
  • From morning to late afternoon on Tuesday, the eastern Aegean islands.

Meteo: worsening weather with rain and thunderstorms

The National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr predicts a worsening and intense meteorological phenomena from Monday with local rains or thunderstorms in the west and north, while from the afternoon a front of heavy rains and thunderstorms will affect the Ionian Islands and Western Greece. .

According to Meteo, on Tuesday night the front will move further east, affecting the continental parts of the country, while on Tuesday it will continue its course towards the eastern Aegean. The strongest phenomena will be located in central and eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean. At the same time, the rains and storms will persist in western Greece.

EAA-meteo notes that strong phenomena will be accompanied by an increase electrical activity (lightning) and strong gusts of wind, while increasing the possibility of hail.

During the morning hours of Tuesday, showers and thunderstorms are also expected to occur in Attica, with the effects possibly temporarily intense.
