The hours of common silence changed when we entered winter period.
The Greek Police inform citizens about the issue and specifically about the time change. Through frequent posts on its Twitter account, the Greek Police recalls that based on a relevant Order 3 of 1996, common hours of silence are defined as:
– During the summer season from 15:00 to 17:30 and from 23:00 to 07:00.
– During the winter season from 15:30 to 17:30 and from 22:00 to 07:30.
Summer period, the period from April 1 to September 30 is considered.. The winter period is considered the period from October 1 to March 31..
Violators of the provisions of this Police Order are prosecuted up to the degree of guilt. To do this, citizens can request the Police to confirm the offense, as well as file a Complaint against the offenders.
During these hours it is prohibited:
- Work or other activities that generate noise. In exceptional emergency cases, which cannot be postponed, with the special motivated permission of the commander of the corresponding Police Department, it may be allowed to carry out work, especially of public utility, that generates noise.
- The operation of any musical instrument or radio, tape recorder or television device at high volume, shouting, loud dancing, and any other noisy event in a home or other private areas.
- The songs, the shouts, the use of musical instruments, the operation of radios, tape recorders and televisions in the streets, squares and public areas in general in residential areas, as well as in public transport vehicles.
- Noisy games in cafes, pubs or other public centers, as well as shouting and high-pitched conversations from the customers of these centers.
- Noisy arguments and fights in parking lots (bus, TAXI, etc.), loading or unloading of goods on or from trucks, which generates noise, as well as the noisy operation of the wheel motor, which is stopped.
- The use of sirens or other sound instruments or security systems, without an emergency reason, as well as their test operation.
