“Avgi”: the end of a historical newspaper

For today’s cover of this once historic newspaper, crack the bones of the intellectuals who once, with their texts, adorned its pages. But also those spiritual people, and not only, who are alive and once collaborated with “Avgi”, will surely cause sadness the assimilation of the elected prime ministers Antonis Samaras and Kyriakou Mitsotakis with the neo-Nazis of Golden Dawn.

The obvious newspaper panic – let me call it a “newspaper” for reasons of civic decency – has two main causes.

one. A newspaper close to SYRIZA, the Editors ‘Diary, recognized Antonis Samaras’ contribution to the dismantling of the criminal organization and gave him a step on its pages. He did the same with the current prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

This move by the Journal of the Editors enraged the SYRIZA leadership group as it shifted its central New Democracy narrative from the “far right”. And with its cover today, the Avgi “newspaper” promised to restore order.

The political myopia and moral decline of the SYRIZA ruling group and its “newspaper” is evident.

They fail to realize that by “giving” New Democracy to the neo-Nazis, they are reducing in unimaginable ways the necessary democratic concentration. Let me remind you that in 1974 the Renewing Left shook hands with Konstantinos Karamanlis with the political line of anti-dictatorship unity. But the majority of SYRIZA executives were not born or, through the KKE lines, were talking about a “NATO changing of the guard.”

The Editors Magazine understood the need to highlight the democratic arc and proceeded with this politically correct movement, recognizing the contribution of New Democracy to the dismantling of the criminal organization.

two. With the resounding resignation of Kontoni, a long-time SYRIZA executive with roots in the Renewing Left, came the unnatural attempt by the SYRIZA government to bring the Golden Dawn “softly” in terms of its criminal treatment. The question marks are reasonable.

What are the motivations for this initiative? Is there a causal link between this particular legislation and the SYRIZA-Golden Dawn synergy in 54 cases recorded in the past? What is the consideration for this provision or was this legislation SYRIZA’s consideration for Golden Dawn’s past benefits?

The questions are many and arose at a time when SYRIZA was in a phase of internal turmoil, which intensified. And as if all this was not enough, Janet Tsipras deleted Kontonis.

And the stupid Chernobylists, Stalinists in “Avgi” believed that with this defeated cover they would “break” the climate of introversion. In the end, they only managed to provoke a wave of reactions from citizens who do not belong to the so-called “anti-SYRIZA” area.

When two elected prime ministers are equated with the neo-Nazis, they are next to receive the ire of all citizens who belong to the democratic arch, while the Stalinism of the inspirers of this cover is confirmed.

Years ago, some of us said that SYRIZA degraded the political life of the place and characterized us as extremists. Today through the cesspool of “Dawn” we feel justified.
