In its protected radioactive-ecological habitat ChernobylScientists have discovered a rare species of butterfly, which is the size of a bird.
Scientists monitoring the habitat announced their findings on their Facebook page.
The blue-striped butterfly “Catocala fraxini” reached only scientists, who claim that it is one of the largest species of butterflies in Ukraine and Europe. The opening (width) of its wings can reach 110 mm.
The butterfly is active at night and is attracted to light. The scientific department of the protected habitat indicated that, as soon as the rains stop, they will move it to their favorite tree, which is the poplar.
