Yesterday six new deaths were registered, while 91 patients were hospitalized in intensive care units.
Another difficult day of the coronavirus pandemic in our country was yesterday, when more than 400 new cases of COVID-19 were registered again. The focus remains Attica, where, despite the measures, the epidemic does not subside. The red alarm that has sounded in Attica accelerates the announcement of new measures. According to information from “K”, the government is willing to take one more step to reduce the epidemic by announcing – possibly within the day – a further reduction in the opening hours of restaurants, which will close by 10 m. μ. until 5 am, as well as the mandatory use of the mask indoors and outdoors. Yesterday, the National Public Health Agency announced 436 new cases and six new deaths (total number since the beginning of the epidemic 430). 219 cases were detected in Attica, while yesterday the number of cases detected in Thessaloniki increased (33). In Ioannina, Kozani, Pella, Kilkis and Evia a double digit number of cases was recorded.
By appointment
Meanwhile, in the difficult battle to face the pandemic, the Ministry of Health “expels” the public units of Primary Health Care from the country. Starting next Monday, 103 Health Centers and 42 regional clinics throughout Greece will receive by appointment patients with symptoms that refer to COVID-19. Especially for Attica, as of Monday 14 Health Centers will begin to accept suspected cases of coronavirus: 8 in the 1st Health District of Attica (Alexandra, Maroussi, Kallithea, Ilioupoli, Zografou, Rafina, Paphion, Kalivia) 2nd Health District from Piraeus and Aegean (Peristeri, Kaminia, Drapetsona, Elefsina, Salamina, Varis). The Health Centers will operate 24 hours a day, or in two shifts from 7 in the morning to 10 at night. Appointments can be scheduled either through the electronic appointment platform (IDIKA electronic appointment), where there is now a COVID-19 medical office indication, either with the currently valid five-digit numbers, or by contact direct with the Health Center.
The objective is to decongest the NSS hospitals. As stated yesterday by the Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias in his visit to the Peristeri Health Center, this intervention is important, since “it will support and encourage our hospitals, especially the referral hospitals that have received the most effort so far, in everything that has to do with the coronavirus. ”The Secretary General of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous, clarified that the process is dynamic and that new Health Centers that meet the requirements will constantly be added. It is indicative that another 58 centers will receive suspected cases of coronavirus from October 15. According to Mr. Themistokleous, the intervention increases the daily possibilities of conducting tests in Attica Health units. According to him, “at this moment, the daily average of tests carried out in Attica hospitals is about 1,000. We are increasing the capacity by 500 and the help we will give to the hospitals can be considered. s and especially to referral hospitals ”.
