Tomorrow, Friday, the definitive end of the Golden Dawn case will arrive with the decision of the sentences and mitigation.
The mitigation process is very important as it cuts the sentence in half, as explained by Ioanna Mandrou on SKAI’s “Simera” show.
The lawyers are fighting a real battle. At 5 pm. the court will release its rulings.
Next, the prosecutor will propose sentences and the lawyers will try to get the shortest possible sentence for those convicted.
For the natural perpetrator of the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, Giorgos Roupakias, the sequence of today’s trial will determine whether he will face life in prison or 15 years in prison. Respectively, the seven guilty of running a criminal organization will face 15 years in prison or a much shorter sentence as if mitigated, the penalties range from 2 to 8 years in prison. For the members of the organization, the recognition of mitigations reduces the penalty from 5 to 10 years to 1 to 5 years.
It is estimated that the procedure today will be shorter in terms of the recognition of mitigations, since after the prosecutor the lawyers have the right to a brief deuterology.
Following the announcement of the sentences, the court has the right to request that the absent defendants be presented.
Today’s trial will last until midnight, while the last day is tomorrow.
After the decision is made, those to be incarcerated will be moved to a cage.
Most of the defendants are already under house arrest.
