Novak Djokovic closed the long-awaited encounter with Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals of Roland Garros in a strange match against Pablo Karenio Busta, in which he started by taking a photo of an injury but ended it in four sets.
Legend Nole again in the Roland Garros semi-finals!
The 33-year-old Serb was unbeaten on the court this year in the strangest game he has given this year, along with his Cincinnati final against Milos Raonic.
Like there, Nole portrayed an injury and severe discomfort in the first set, to the point of being anxious even for a possible withdrawal from the match, he finally lost the first set but then presented a progressively better image to finally beat Pablo Karenio Busta with 3 -1 set, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6- And qualify for the semi-finals of the French Open!
There, where of course he will play on Friday, against the incredible Stefanos Tsitsipas who is for the first time in the “4” at Roland Garros and is in a terrifying situation can clearly threaten the Serbian.
A Djokovic who did not seem to be 100% physically and that undoubtedly affected his performance, which was among his highest levels throughout the match against Busta, but which was still enough to exclude, although with difficulty, the Spanish.
And his image in the first set was more than alarming.
He appeared with a strap on his back from the beginning of the match, essentially playing without a first serve during the first set, while his movement seemed obviously limited.
The effortless errors gave way and took away, 16 in total in the first set, and with two breaks, he also made a break back, lagged behind with 0-1 sets with air of possible retreat present at this point.
Things got worse for the Serbian when Busta reached two break points early in the second set.
There, he had a great opportunity with a simple forehand pass, to do so but Djokovic didn’t make it as if he was bummed at the time and started to play clearly better.
The first serves began to come out more frequently, the effortless errors were reduced with Busta following a reverse course and playing much worse than the first set.
Not only did Nole draw, but also led with a quick 3-0 in the third set in his best part of the match, but the instability returned.
Busta took a game after a long time and even broke Djokovic’s serve, tying the score at 3-3 while holding a “golden” break point to get the momentum of the match forever.
However, he lost a difficult forehand down the fastball and Nole punished him with three unanswered games 2-1.
The water had entered the ditch.
Djokovic constantly threatened the Spaniard’s serve in the fourth set and in the sixth break, he did so to make it 4-3.
This was followed by the most impressive game of the match with an energetic Djokovic doing a “bogeyman” holding there and closing the match two games later.
However, it proved to be deadly.
We still don’t know if there are any injuries, however, his level in the quarterfinals was quite mediocre by his own standards and if we see a fantastic Stefanos Tsitsipas on Friday, maybe we will have a happy mandate …
