Mitsotakis: Democracy won today!

“Today’s decision of the three-member Criminal Court of Appeals for the Golden Dawn action closes a traumatic cycle in the public life of the country. Fortunately, its political dimension has been judged by the victory of the Republic, which expelled the Nazi formation of Parliament Now, the independent judiciary is giving its own response.

As Prime Minister, I consciously refrain from commenting on judicial decisions. However, as a Greek citizen, I share in universal satisfaction from the recognition of its criminal character. And I am proud of the unwavering stance of our faction that made the political and social marginalization of Golden Dawn a strategic goal.

Because the New Democracy has always fought, constantly and everywhere, against fascism. He denounced the populism that raised him in the squares of blind hatred and violence. Not for a moment did he collude with his representatives, neither in the political nor in the parliamentary elections. By an order he approved, he excluded them from state funding. He even refused to legitimize his presence even at simple ceremonial events.

History has written that in the days of the New Democracy the way was opened for the trial of the Golden Dawn. In her day, a process that lasted four and a half years was also facilitated and accelerated. So that we can make Justice make its decisions today.
