Facebook has decided to “download” a publication by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in which he affirms that Covid-19 (from which he also suffers) is a less deadly virus than the seasonal flu.
According to CNN, the Facebook representative Andy stone confirmed that the company removed the post for violating its policy of disinformation and control of fake news related to the coronavirus.
Trump has repeatedly undermined the danger of the coronavirus while still underestimating its severity even though he is the same patient. According to CNN, in this post, he equates the pandemic with the flu, for which there is a vaccine and its treatment is known.
The same message was posted on Twitter, where it was removed for the same reasons.
“Flu season is coming! Every year, more than 100,000 people die from the flu despite the vaccine. Will we close the country? We must learn to live with it, while we learn to live with Covid, which is less deadly many population groups, ”he characteristically wrote.
In August, Facebook and Twitter removed a post by Trump again making false allegations about Covid-19. In that post, an excerpt from an interview with Fox News was published where he said that children “are almost immune” to the virus.
It’s worth noting that according to the WHO, seasonal flu kills 0.1% of infected people, while the corresponding rates of SARS-CoV-2 are ten times higher, despite distancing measures. At the same time, this virus is more easily transmitted.
According to experts, each person with coronavirus appears to infect an average of at least 2.2 people, while the number of seasonal flu is about 1.3. Of course, there is no vaccine or cure for Covid-19.
