There are currently 6,233 active cases of coronavirus in Greece, according to data provided by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias, during today’s briefing on the evolution of the disease.

It is recalled that on Monday the General Secretariat for Civil Protection announced a mini closure in Achaia and Ioannina.

The Health Security Charter: How It Will Work

Nikos Hardalias announced that the government will now take categorized and specific measures for each region, so that economic and social life in our country can continue smoothly and safely.

In this context, on Friday, during the information session on the coronavirus, the Covid-19 health safety and protection map will be presented for each regional unit in the country.

There will be four levels of precautionary measures and rules: 1 – preparation, 2 – vigilance, 3 – increased vigilance, 4 – increased risk.

The risk level in which each region is located will be judged by various epidemiological indicators, such as the number of cases per 100,000, hospital occupancy rates, the monitoring process, and more.

The map will be updated every 15 days based on the recommendations of the special committee on infectious diseases, or more often, when required by epidemiological indicators.

“Our schools are safe”

The undersecretary of Civil Protection also gave information on the spread of the coronavirus in schools.

14 schools have completely suspended their operation, while the departments of 144 schools across the country have been closed due to coronavirus incidents. Most of the “locks”, of course, have entered areas with greater epidemiological burden.

According to Hardalias, only 0.016% of the student community and 0.033% of the country’s teachers have tested positive for the virus.

In addition, he noted that the cases are geographically fragmented and spatially isolated, indicating that three weeks after the start of the school year there is no dispersion within school units, so schools are considered safe.

“Dear fellow citizens, I want to emphasize the need to observe the measures, despite the tiredness and fatigue that we can justifiably feel,” added Mr. Hardalias, concluding that until the vaccine is found, the measures must be observed.
