The student and military parades will not take place on October 28, government spokesman Stelios Petsas announced, due to the epidemiological situation of the second wave of the coronavirus.

By decision of the Prime Minister

“I inform you that due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the decision of the Prime Minister, the student and military parades will not take place on October 28,” emphasized Mr. Petsas.

The government spokesman also stressed that no other restrictive measures are needed at this stage if those already taken are respected.

“Now it is clear that a second wave of the pandemic has already occurred in our country and throughout Europe, which is reflected in the number of cases, intubations and, unfortunately, deaths.

An even greater wave of concern as we approach the period of closed spaces and seasonal viruses.

That is why the recent European Council has taken this issue seriously, although it was not on its official agenda.

Quick and not complacent

“As far as our country is concerned, we are still doing much better than many other European countries,” the government spokesman said.

“However, we need vigilance and not complacency, because the picture can easily change dramatically.

Cases in social care facilities, such as nursing homes, but also in workplaces, where transmission is occurring at an accelerated rate, further highlight the importance of individual responsibility, adherence to protocols, the faithful implementation of the measures recommended by the experts established by the State.

After all, it is the only way to avoid stricter restrictive measures, but also to avoid the worst.

To contain, but also to reduce the number of cases and intubations. Let’s all work together to save lives. “

It is recalled that the parade on March 25, 2020 was not held because it coincided with the closure in the first phase of the pandemic.
