A 15-year-old boy in Brisbane, Australia, tragically lost his life when a barbell weighing 98 kg fell on his head.
The unfortunate boy was training alone at Pine Rivers, one of the largest gyms in the country, when for some unknown reason the bar fell on his head. For half an hour, 15-year-old Ben Shaw was helpless under 98 kg, until someone helped him.

He was taken to the hospital where he remained in a coma for 3 days, but succumbed to his injuries, and his family decided to remove him from mechanical support as he was clinically dead.
The incident occurred in 2017 but resurfaced when the trial for any criminal liability that led to Ben’s death was resumed.
Ben’s family is seeking A $ 518,000 in damages.
