Koronovirus: in Attica, two out of three cases

[ad_1]

With Attica … today setting a negative record for the entire epidemic period in the number of daily cases, registering 272 new diagnoses coronavirus In a 24-hour period, the transition from a difficult September to an obviously more difficult month occurred, due to the start of the flu season in October.

Cases across the country are beginning to stabilize daily at more than 400 – the professor noted last week Gikas Majorkinis it had reported a consistently high number of cases, more than 300 per day, to sound the alarm. Today 411 new cases were reported, of which 2/3 were located in the basin.

However, today there is a negative record in the number of intubated. Yesterday’s epidemiological report reported 79 intubated patients and today their number has increased to 89. This is one of the largest numbers, perhaps the largest, of intubations registered in the field of Intensive Care Units (ICU).

But how do you explain the rash to patients who had to be intubated from noon on Wednesday to noon on Thursday? The professor of Intensive Care, director of the ICU in Evangelisms and president of the Hellenic Society of Intensive Care (EETH), Mrs. Anastasia Kotanidou explain in protothema.gr How did this rapid increase in intubation occur? “Severe cases are treated in the ICU, there may be intubated patients and others with severe infection but have not been intubated, they are given oxygen and are monitored by the Unit’s specialists. These patients may be worse at night and require intubation. This happened in the last 24 hours. There were patients with severe symptoms in the ICU, some on the verge of intubation. When additional medical intubation was required, it was performed. In other words, these are not Covid-19 infection patients who were hospitalized with infection in the coronavirus clinics and were suddenly transferred to the ICU. This may not happen, but in most cases the patients who are intubated are very serious and are usually hospitalized in the ICU from the beginning ”.

Of the 89 patients who fight against the coronavirus intubated in the country’s hospitals, 59 are in Attica. This is to be expected, of course, from scientists, as there is a very large epidemiological burden in the basin. Hundreds of cases a day prove it, as does hospital admissions steadily. Every day 60 to 80 patients with severe coronavirus infection enter for treatment. Fatally, some of them, and specifically of the group of people of 65 years or more, will be overwhelmed and will have to be admitted to the ICU. 2/3 of the intubated are in the Attica ICU. The vast majority of them suffer from serious underlying diseases and the age mainly belongs to the category of 60-65 years and over.

In general, the Ministry of Health has developed 269 ICU beds nationwide. Of these 107 have been developed in Attica, and their number is constantly increasing, as the general ICU provides beds to the covid-19 ICU.
