NATO announced the establishment of a permanent de-escalation mechanism between Greece and Turkey.

According to a statement from the Alliance, the mechanism will enter into force today, Thursday, October 1, and its purpose is to reduce the risk of accidents in the Eastern Mediterranean. A direct telephone line is reportedly being installed between the military agents of the two countries to facilitate de-escalation by sea and air.
