Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter to the leaders of the European Union, 24 hours before the start of the crucial summit, where he is likely to discuss the imposition of sanctions on Ankara.
According to the Turk Sabah, in the letter, the Turkish president did not include Greece and Cyprus.
Erdogan’s letter:
“Recently, our relationships were put to the test due to events in the Mediterranean. With this letter, I want to convey Turkey’s approach to solving this problem. Our policy for the Eastern Mediterranean has two main objectives. The first is the fair and legitimate delimitation of maritime jurisdiction in the eastern Mediterranean in accordance with international law and the protection of our sovereign rights. “Our second objective is to guarantee the equal rights and interests of Turkish Cypriots for hydrocarbon resources as equal partners of the island of Cyprus.”
