New information about the death of polo player, Adamantios Mantis, was published in the Star newsletter.
According to the traffic report, the driver who fell on the athlete’s car on Poseidon Avenue in November 2019 ran at twice the speed limit.
According to Star, the official finding of the Piraeus Traffic Police causes a commotion, as the driver was running with 104.62 km when the accident occurred, while the speed limit allowed at the point is 40 km, while it seems that there were no traces of braking.
The unfortunate player’s car was mobilized with alarm in the left lane of Poseidonos avenue.
Overwhelmed, Adamantios Mantis’s mother said after the conclusion of the “catapult”: “I cried with pain and joy. The opinion I had was justified, that I was going at twice the speed established by the traffic signs. Violated by this controller, anything that could be within the code could be violated».
The 65-page report describes frame by frame how the driver fell onto the small car last November. In his testimony, the driver claimed that he was running 70 km and that he saw the car 100 meters away. But the finding refuted it.
The conclusion of the Traffic Police was delivered to the competent judicial authorities.
The chronicle of the tragedy
21-year-old pole vaulter Adamantios Mantis was riding in a car driven by a 20-year-old friend last November. While driving downstream towards Glyfada, the two young children heard a strange noise from the car and stopped the vehicle in the left lane of the highway to check what was happening.
Adamantios Mantis got out of the car to see if there was any damage and then the tragedy happened: another vehicle, also driven by a young man, fell on the young athlete and the car stopped.
