Coronavirus: New measures were decided to limit the spread of the coronavirus in the center of Athens at a meeting held in the Ministry of Health, with the participation of the Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias, Vice Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias, President of the National Council (EODY) Panagiotis Arkoumaneas and the mayor of Athens Costas Bakogiannis.
As highlighted, taking into account epidemiological data, and with the aim of protecting the health of the 650,000 inhabitants and visitors of Athens, the Municipality of Athens and the Ministry of Health are proceeding with a new package of actions in addition to those already taken, in constant coordination with the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and EODY, as well as with all the bodies involved.
The main objective of the City Council of Athens is to prevent the transmission of the virus, starting with the city’s neighborhoods. Decentralizing tests and prevention actions in all corners of Athens, strengthening their structures and taking special care of vulnerable and vulnerable groups of the population.
At the meeting held at the Ministry of Health, it was decided to strengthen the coordination of all the services involved and joint planning to face the situation, with the following actions:
- The municipality of Atenas has 8 friendship clubs in the city., which are set up and converted into small diagnostic testing centers for COVID-19. The tests will be focused and in accordance with the applicable protocols, complying with all safety and hygiene measures, with a view to protecting public health, and especially vulnerable and vulnerable groups of the population.
- Provide faster screening tests (rapid tests) for the increase of controls in the two structures of the City of Athens (Multipurpose Center for the Homeless and Addicts Reception Center).
- the Quick tests from the EODY stairs in the congested areas of Athens, where the majority of coronavirus cases are recorded.
- The Athens City Council teams who work daily in the streets of Athens for the support and care of the homeless (streetwork), are framed and assisted by nurses, to take more samples but also to provide more specialized health and wellness services to people in need.
- Two new temporary isolation structures are created, to welcome addicts to reduce their health risks due to a possible infection, as well as citizens who come from vulnerable and vulnerable groups and have tested positive for the virus, so they must implement social distancing measures to limit its possible spread of the virus . All health protection measures will be applied in these structures, under decent living conditions.
The “Joint Daily Management Center”, which operates in coordination with the Greek and municipal police, expand your activity in the communication and joint planning of all the bodies and services that have assumed responsibility for the prevention and protection of the health of citizens.
