The Prime Minister clarified that the government does not plan a new blockade to limit the transmission of the coronavirus.
However, he stressed that it is imperative to follow current measures, otherwise new ones will be needed, especially in the Attica basin.
The new measures were announced by Mr. Nikos Sypsas, in statements to MEGA, characteristically pointing out that “the measures taken by the government as of September 10 have already given some effect to the epidemic. If the measures continue to work if we add new measures, we will probably add“Then we will see a leveling out of the epidemic, which is the first step before the recession,” he said.
Experts insist that additional measures should be taken, despite the fact that in the last meeting with the Prime Minister they found positive signs of the evolution of the pandemic in Attica.
THE September 30th, has been set as the day, on which it will be decided whether to take new, tougher measures, which will automatically intensify the duration of the current measures or we will go to horizontal lock.
The new measures to come
According to ERT, the measures allegedly prepared by the experts are:
- First the mask use in all outdoor areas. It’s a move that infectious disease specialists have long been openly proposing, believing it will further reduce the spread of the pandemic.
- Second, the traffic restriction from midnight to 6:00 in the morning, where movement will be allowed only by SMS.
- In third place, send SMS for the movement of all citizens over 65 years of age.
New measures in force – Which stores are closing
It is recalled that on Friday (9/25), EODY announced 286 new cases of which 163 were detected in Attica, and the government immediately announced new measures to be applied from Saturday morning for Attica.
“At the moment, these are not stricter measures” Gikas Majorkinis pointed out, who stressed that the penultimate measure to be taken before a possible closure is the closure of schools.
The objective of the new measures taken by the government is to reduce the agglomeration of young people in the squares, since health workers discover that it is young people who multiply infections in the capital.
Hardalia Ultimatum: “If they don’t act, we’re going to quarantine”
The new measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus in epidemiologically heavy areas were announced this Friday afternoon by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management. Nikos Hardals
“It is clear that we are at a critical juncture and the course depends on all of us, the citizens and the state, since no measure is effective if it is not complied with.”, Mr. Nikos Hardalias mentioned in quotation marks.
The Undersecretariat of Civil Protection announced new measures to reduce the pandemic, after emphasizing that we are at a critical point and stressed that adhering to the mask is the best tool to control the pandemic.
The new measures are:
- Specifically, in the Attica region and in the areas that are under the regime of special restrictive measures, that is, in Imathia, Kilkis, Pella, Pieria, Halkidiki, Chania, Heraklion of Crete, Zakynthos, Lesbos and Mykonos, the operation is suspended. any type of retail goods such as kiosks, mini markets and wineries. Pharmacies and gas stations are excluded from the measure.
- Both in the mentioned areas and in the areas under epidemiological surveillance, that is, in the region of East Macedonia and Thrace, in the regional units of Thessaloniki, Karditsa, Larissa, Corfu in the municipality of Volos, Santorini, Rhodes, Kos, Paros and In exchange, it is allowed to carry, drive and deliver in restaurants, except for the sale of alcohol. The measure is valid from tomorrow 5 in the morning until October 4.
- In addition, the health store opening hours in all areas subject to special restrictive measures or epidemiological surveillance and health stores were closed from midnight to 7 am. Now these stores can be open from 5 in the morning and not from 7 as before.
Furthermore, Mr. Hardals announced that Trikala regional unit It enters into a regime of special restrictive measures due to the increase in the epidemiological burden observed in the region. That is, it was decided:
- Prohibition of the operation of all health interest stores from 12 at night until 05:00 the next day.
- Suspension of any type of event such as parties, fairs, processions, public markets, etc.
- Prohibition of any type of meeting of citizens over 9 people for any reason, both in public and in private.
- In the dining areas a maximum number of people at each table is allowed up to 4 people, unless they are first degree relatives where up to 6 people are allowed.
- Mandatory use of a mask both indoors and outdoors.
The above restrictive measures are valid for 14 days from Saturday 09-26-2020 and hours 06.00 to Saturday 10-10-2020 and hours 06.00. It is observed that in consultation with the Ministry of Finance for the affected companies, it is possible to suspend the employment contract of the employees.
“The spread of the new coronavirus and the pressure on the health system, forced the government to take additional measures to implement the existing ones and at the same time avoid overcrowding, which is observed mainly by young people, after 12 at night, in areas around kiosks and other stores that supply alcohol “, explained.
“If specific measures are implemented, no more are needed” assured the Vice Minister of Civil Protection.
When asked what he considers to be the largest outbreaks in Attica based on daily monitoring, Hardalias emphasized that there is no excluded category in this. “There is a special mobility and burden in the central area of Athens and in specific areas. Some of these footprints obviously have a point of reference for our fellow citizens who are immigrants. Our strategy in these cases is a comprehensive strategy that refers to measures that are already implemented with controls by the Ministry of Health, with greater surveillance of the areas where gatherings can be created with hard and strict monitoring of cases and contacts especially close. », He noted when adding that it is a package of measures that has been implemented in other municipalities of Attica and that brings results.
“We are in good daily cooperation with the municipality of Atenas and the initiatives that are taken are initiatives that I believe will give results. What is needed is that we all implement the measures and especially all the residents of Attica “, he pointed.
Regarding the dilemma raised by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, self-control or quarantine, and if the logic will be followed after October 4 and also concerns the people who are in the refugee structures, Mr Hardalias stated that “The prime minister’s dilemma is clear. We take measures so that we do not have to take more. For now, in this critical situation in which we find ourselves, especially in Attica, the issue is to implement the measures, limit ourselves. If these measures do not work we will see all the other measurements, If we reach a point where no measure can work, obviously we will go to the last solution, which is the issue of quarantine.».
