The Lakers are in a position to claim a title for the first time in ten years. Led by LeBron James, they prevailed 117-107 of the Nuggets who this time could not return from 1-3 as in the two previous series and surrendered 4-1.
The “king” added 38 points (7/8 shots, 14/21 two points, three points), 16 rebounds and 10 assists, claiming his fourth championship. Anthony Davis, who played despite a slight sprain in Game 4, had 27 points for the lakmen.
Jeremy Grant and Nikola Jokic each scored 20 points for Denver, but Jamal Murray, facing discomfort in his right knee, was left with 19-7/17 shots.
Now the Lakers await their opponent in the Heat-Celtics final (3-2).
The match
After a balanced first twelve minutes (33-30), the Lakers with their good defense and the action of their stars in attack escaped, 49-38. Their dominance continued until the beginning of the third period, when they reached +16 (72-56). The Nuggets, however, did not give up and with Grant “furious” in defense and attack (14 points in the third twelve minutes) they tied 84-84. LeBron and Davis took matters into their own hands and with 6:11 remaining they brought the game to 102-92. The Nuggets were close to four with a foul by Jokic (103-99), but Green’s 3-pointer and LeBron’s shot made it 108-99 at 3:40. The “king” with 16 points in the last period and nine in a row wrote the epilogue of the series.
